Top 10 Takeaways from Joel Osteen
I love studying high performance. There are a handful of people I watch closely to see how they produce such massive IMPACT in the universe.
Joel Osteen is one of those guys. I have read his books. I have watched him on TV. And I listen to his podcast practically every Monday AM. He has created a mega-church in the 15years or so he’s been a pastor at Lakewood Church in Houston, TX.
And he’s created a global empire through his personal brand “Joel Osteen.”
For those of you who may not know Joel, he is perhaps the most influential/popular Christian televangelist of our decade. He has his own TV show every Sunday AM, he has his own Sirius XM Radio show, he has appeared on Oprah, and about every major show/network that you can think of.
His new book, Think Better…Live Better is a NY Times Best Seller and he has a massive audience and following (see below).
The man who directs his radio show, Chuck Pryor, is the one I spent literally all day with. I sat with him at service. Ate with him. And of course, did the radio show with him and Joel.
The interesting thing is Chuck is with Joel every single day. On the road and at “home” in Houston. Even on Joel’s “off” days (Monday), Chuck goes to Joel’s house as they do their weekly radio show from the house. He travels with Joel (except family vacation) on his plane.
Chuck is like Larry on our team. Larry is with me a lot throughout the day, he “understands me” before anyone else, travels with me sometimes, and has an incredible pulse on things.
Chuck is like that for Joel.
Therefore, Chuck knows a lot about Joel and he shared some cool insights with me.
And I’d be remissed if I didn’t share them with you.
It started for me with meeting Joel & his wife Victoria before their 11 am service. He came out, knew my name, was extremely friendly and polite, and smiled.
A few things struck me about Joel…
First, he is very “soft-spoken,” almost shy when by himself or when the cameras are not on.
Two, he is very fit-looking. Although he is probably only 5’9”, he looks extremely well-conditioned and fit.
Chuck & I sat in the 2nd row during the service (behind Victoria and his family) so we had a cat-bird seat into everything.
And I had an incredible day and experience with Joel and his team. Here are my top takeaways.
